Companion Videos was founded by Mary Ann Brazell and Brian Campbell. Mary Ann and Brian met while serving in the Peace Corps in Guatemala. Married six years, they founded Companion Videos as a means of providing a vehicle through which individuals afflicted with Alzheimer’s or other mind debilitating diseases could find peace in an otherwise chaotic world. The inspiration for the project was personal - as Brian and Mary Ann had their first child, Brian’s grandmother suffered a debilitating stroke. Reflecting on the similarities between the beginning years of life with those at the end, the notion of bringing simple, familiar and pleasing objects into one’s life through television was hatched.
Companion Videos is just that: a series of simple, calming and familiar images, accompanied by classical music. The purpose of the video is to facilitate a sense of calm for those who are watching, while providing a respite for the caretaker. As others have found and enjoyed - we also hope that you enjoy this video, and find a moment of peace.
